The Academic & Community Partners program is a limited pilot supporting educators, researchers, nonprofits, community organizations, and innovators using Niantic Spatial technologies for meaningful non-commercial projects.

Focus Areas

We're interested in projects that fall into one of these three areas.

Education

For students, educators, researchers, classrooms, cohort-based courses, and academic institutions.


Examples include: Teaching, Research, Student Projects, Robotics, GIS, Digital Twins


Participants may receive:

  • Academic access to Scaniverse
  • Credits for eligible projects
  • Opportunities to showcase resulting work

Community

For nonprofits, museums, libraries, preservation groups, arts organizations, and other mission-driven organizations.


Examples Include: Historic preservation, Cultural heritage, Environmental conservation, Community storytelling


Participants may receive:

  • Credits for eligible projects
  • Opportunities to showcase resulting work

Innovation

For hackathons, innovation challenges, civic technology initiatives, and exploratory projects.


Examples include: Hackathons, Experimental prototypes, Workforce development, Cross-disciplinary collaborations

  • Opportunities to showcase resulting work
