What changed with Scaniverse pricing?

Scaniverse now uses a hybrid subscription + credit model:

All on‑device features in the mobile app remain free; credits are used only for cloud processing and VPS.
I was on a Free plan, what will happen now?

With the launch of our pricing all “New Scaniverse” users are moved onto the new Free plan. Users on custom / enterprise contracts are handled individually and may stay on their negotiated terms.
What does “asset generation” mean?

Asset generation is when Scaniverse processes your scans in the cloud to create things like:

Every time you start an asset generation job in the cloud, the job has a credit cost associated with it.
What is a credit?

Credits are the unit of usage for Scaniverse’s cloud services. They are redeemed whenever you:

Run asset generation on your scans

Make VPS localization queries
Each plan gives you a monthly allocation of credits. If you consistently need more than your plan includes, you can either upgrade to a higher plan or, at the top tier, work with our sales team on a more bespoke option.
How much do common operations cost in credits?

Asset generation – Scaniverse mobile capture

Example: generating assets from a 5 minute scan created on Scaniverse mobile will require 9,000 credits.
360° camera Gaussian splat generation – 360° degree video capture

Example: generating a Gaussian splat from 5 minutes of 360° camera video will require 36,000 credits.
VPS localization queries

You’ll see the credit cost before starting an asset generation job, so you can decide whether to go ahead based on your remaining balance.
When are credits deducted for an asset generation job?

Credits are charged when the asset generation job starts.

If the job fails for any reason, those credits are automatically refunded back to your balance.
What if an asset generation job fails?

If an asset generation job fails, you won’t be charged for a failed job.
What happens if I don’t have enough credits for an asset generation job?

If you try to generate an asset but don’t have enough credits:

The job is blocked before it starts.
-
You’ll see a clear in‑app message explaining that you’ve run out of credits.

You’ll be directed to visit the Scaniverse website to upgrade your plan.
If you’re on a lower‑tier plan, you can upgrade to a higher‑tier plan with a larger monthly credit allowance. If you’re already on the highest self-serve plan and need more credits, please reach out to our sales team to discuss a higher‑volume Business or Enterprise plan.
Do credits roll over from month to month?

Credits do not roll over from month to month. Your monthly credit allowance will reset at the start of each new billing cycle, regardless of how many credits you had remaining from the previous month.
How do I manage my Scaniverse plan and payments?
+
Plan selection, upgrades, downgrades, and payment management are all handled exclusively through the organization's dashboard on Scaniverse Web. The mobile app does not provide support for making changes to your plan or managing payments.

What if my subscription renewal payment doesn't go through?

Should your payment method fail upon your subscription's renewal date, your account will be downgraded to the Free plan at the end of the billing cycle that has been paid. To restore your plan features and credits, you will need to update your payment information and successfully complete the charge.
What happens if I upgrade or downgrade in the middle of a billing cycle?

Mid-cycle Plan Changes
Upgrading: If you upgrade before your current billing cycle ends, you'll be charged the full price of the new plan immediately. Your unspent credits carry over and are added to your new plan's credit allocation. Your original plan remains active through the end of its cycle, so during the overlap, you have access to both. At the end of that original cycle, the lower-tier plan cancels and only your new plan renews going forward, on a new billing cycle based on the upgrade date.
Downgrading: If you downgrade mid-cycle, nothing changes right away. You keep your current plan's features and credits through the end of your billing cycle. The lower-tier plan takes effect only when your next cycle begins.
Example (upgrade): You're on the Free plan with 500 credits remaining and upgrade to the Pro plan (40,000 credits). Pro starts immediately with 40,500 total credits. Your Free plan runs out its cycle, then cancels. After that, only Pro renews.
Example (downgrade): You're on the Pro plan and switch to Free mid-cycle. You keep Pro features and credits until your cycle ends. Free kicks in at the next renewal.
How do seats work within an organization?

Plans include a maximum number of users (seats) per organization. Any user who accepts an invitation to your organization counts as a user. If a user never accepts an invitation, they will not count toward your user limit.
What happens if my organization hits its seat limit?
+
If your org reaches its seat limit you won’t be able to invite new team members until you upgrade to a plan with more seats.
Can I generate a Gaussian Splat from a 360° video on a free plan?
+
No. Generating Gaussian Splats from 360° videos is an exclusive feature for Plus and Pro subscribers. This functionality is not available on the Free Plan.
Can I generate a Gaussian Splat from a 360° video on the mobile app?
+
360° Gaussian splats can only be generated on Scaniverse Web. 360° videos are intended to be uploaded and processed via Scaniverse Web. You can still view Gaussian splats in the app once they’re generated in the cloud.
Do I own the assets I generate? Can I resell them?
+
You own the assets you generate and can use them freely for your own projects. Resale rights depend on your plan:

Free and Plus: Assets may not be resold or redistributed to third parties.

Pro and Enterprise: Commercial resale rights are included.
Can I keep using the Classic version of Scaniverse?
+
Yes. The plans described on this page are a new and separate experience with new features such as combining multiple scans into one asset, cloud processing, support for 360° cameras, and multi-user organizations. You can continue using the Classic version.
Do I have to sign up for a plan to use the Classic version?
+
No. Classic Scaniverse works exactly the same as before, with a separate account login from New Scaniverse. You are welcome to use both.
Are there any limits to on-device processing?
+
No. You can continue using Classic Scaniverse to generate unlimited 3D Gaussian splats on your device. However, your device cannot process assets that support localization within New Scaniverse; those must be uploaded to and processed in the cloud.
Can I switch between the New and Classic versions?
+
Yes, you can, on iOS. New Scaniverse for Android is under development.
To switch from New to Classic, press the Account button at bottom, then Sign out. You can then choose to return to the Classic version which will present the familiar map.
To switch from Classic to New, press the Library button at bottom of the map, then the gear icon at the top. Select “Discover the New Scaniverse” and press Continue to sign in or sign up for an account on New Scaniverse.
Will my previous scans show up in my New Scaniverse account?

No, at this time you cannot import previous scans or splats into your New Scaniverse account.
